The German SAR-service Seenotretter is dedicated to maritime search and rescue operations in the German territories of the North Sea and Baltic Sea, operating 24/7 in all weather conditions. Their mission is clear: "Heading out, when others seek shelter." Established over 158 years ago, the official name of this organization is the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS). The Federal Republic of Germany has entrusted this society with the sovereign responsibility of conducting maritime search and rescue services in the North Sea and Baltic Sea regions. Today, they provide one of the most advanced and professional maritime rescue services globally. Their primary objective is the swift and effective rescue of human lives. To maintain this goal without external influence or interests, the sea rescuers have always prioritized independence and intentionally avoid using public funds. Their operations are funded solely through voluntary donations. The rescue of human lives, often at the risk of their own, is primarily carried out by volunteer sea rescuers. Inspired by these offshore experts, we have crafted the knife model Boker Plus Seenotretter 01, designed to meet the rigorous demands of this challenging profession. As a classic no-nonsense tackle knife, it caters to both professional and private users on maritime and inland waters, as well as individuals who frequently work with ropes. Constructed entirely from stainless steel, the main blade made of 1.4116 features a half wave, perfect for cutting through encrusted ropes and harnesses. The marlin spike, ideal for untying hardened knots, also incorporates shackle and bottle openers. Both blades are secured by a robust and dirt-resistant slipjoint. For enhanced durability and reliability, solid domehead studs are used instead of screws. The front scale is embossed with the Hanseatic cross, the iconic emblem of the DGzRS. A deep-carry clip (tip-up/r) facilitates easy carrying, and a generously sized cord eyelet helps prevent loss.
