The CAT TYPE tourniquet is the go-to CE-certified tourniquet for firefighters and police officers!Identifying a hemorrhage is a critical first step when attending to any injured individual. It addresses the C for catastrophic hemorrhage, also known as M for massive bleeding or X for the coagulation factor 10.All bleeding must be controlled. When faced with someone who is bleeding: Press, Extend, Alert, and Cover!Originating from military use, this tourniquet allows for self-application with just one hand. Even in low-light conditions, this bright color helps you locate the tip to stop the bleeding. A tourniquet should always be ready for use! General instructions for using the CAT TYPE tourniquet:1- Open the tourniquet wide and position it around the injured limb between the bleeding site and the heart (at the root of the limb for the general public and according to the training received for trained professionals).2- Firmly pull the strap and secure the device by folding it back on itself.3- Tighten around the arm, ensuring not to block the compression bar or the locking system.4- Rotate the compression bar until the bleeding ceases.5- Secure the compression bar in the locking system. The bleeding is stopped.6- Secure the free end of the strap above the compression bar by threading it through the locking system to secure the entire device.7- Close the white gripping strip over the locking system. Leg bleeding: use with 2 hands. 1- When using the tourniquet on a leg, place it on the thigh between the bleeding site and the root of the limb. Wrap the mobile strap around the thigh. Thread the free end through the inner return loop.2- Next, pass the mobile strap through the outer return loop, and by friction, the strap will tighten.3- Pull the strap tightly around the thigh and lock the device by securing the strap on itself.4- Rotate the compression bar until the bleeding stops.5- Secure the compression bar in the upper return of the locking system. The bleeding is stopped.6- Close the white gripping band over the locking system. Using the Friction LoopWhen manually applying the tourniquet, or if the tourniquet is heavily soiled, use the specially designed friction buckle to secure the strap.1- Thread the free end of the mobile strap through the inside of the buckle.2- Then back through the outer back of the buckle, ensuring the gripping strap is firmly positioned.3- Tighten the gripping strap, inversely tightened. IMPORTANTRecord the time and date of application on the white band – Never loosen an applied tourniquet – Call for medical assistance (112) – Lay down and cover the victim.Precautions for use:1- Single use.
