The ESEE Model 5 is a fixed survival knife with a blade made of 1095 carbon steel. With a blade thickness of 6.5 mm, it is truly a large knife. You can also tell by the weight: approximately 450 grams. Originally, the ESEE company developed the Model 5 for pilots. Today, survival enthusiasts have also discovered the value of the ESEE 5 knife. It is hard to find a more solid survival knife. The blade is made of 1095 carbon steel. The most important property of this type of steel is its toughness. It is almost impossible to break, especially at this thickness. Another advantage is that 1095 carbon steel is easy to sharpen. Even if you are in the field with limited resources, you can easily sharpen the knife. The only thing to consider is corrosion resistance: 1095 is not stainless steel. Fortunately, ESEE has enhanced it with a strong Traction Coating surface finish. The full tang blade is complemented by a handle made of G10 material. A 3D G10 material handle. Traditional ESEE handles are flat and angular. These 3D handles are much more ergonomic. Thanks to the grooves, you always have a secure grip on the knife. The knife comes with a high-quality kydex sheath. You can attach it in any way you like to the included attachment with a steel belt clip. Thanks to the numerous mounting holes, you can also use other clips. For example, Tek-Loks or MOLLE clips (not included in the package).
