"Zome" is a classic Japanese dyeing technique that is closely related to many aspects of the culture and history of this country. The Spyderco Zome knife family, inspired by this rich artistic heritage, features unique hand-dyed variations of popular lightweight models with injection-molded nylon (FRN) handles reinforced with glass fibers. The handles of these knives are first shaped into a light base color and then individually hand-dyed by skilled Japanese craftsmen using a technique reminiscent of traditional brush dyeing (hiki-zome). In this meticulous method, various colors are hand-painted on the handle using brushes to create striking patterns of a unique type. The blade is made of VG-10 steel. On the top side, it has a grooved arc for a good thumb support while cutting. The handle is made of hand-dyed FRN material. The open blade is secured by a Back Lock mechanism. It opens using the round hole on the blade, which is typical for Spyderco. Despite its smaller size, the knife fits well in the hand when gripped properly. The pocket clip is made of steel wire and is dual-position. The hole on the handle allows for the use of a lanyard.
