This particular version features a blade made from CPM® SPY27®, an advanced powder metallurgy steel that enhances the cobalt-rich composition of VG-10 stainless steel with niobium, nitrogen, and increased amounts of carbon, molybdenum, and vanadium. Created in collaboration with Crucible® Industries and exclusive to Spyderco, this steel provides an outstanding combination of edge retention, toughness, corrosion resistance, and ease of sharpening. The satin-finished, full-flat-ground PlainEdge™ blade of this Dragonfly 2 fully utilizes these attributes and is complemented by a lightweight fiberglass-reinforced-nylon (FRN) handle, injection molded in a striking cobalt blue—one of the hallmark handle colors of Spyderco’s premium SPY27 series. The handle incorporates the knife’s robust back lock mechanism and a reversible deep-pocket wire pocket clip, allowing for either left or right-side tip-up carry.
