While Japanese sword cutting competitions have been popular for many decades, there has been little or no interest in exploring the cutting potential of Western swords until recently. In response to this awakening, Cold Steel would like to encourage it by offering its own competitive sword. In general, it is based on the Arbedo sword type and is intended for competitions using rope, PVC pipes, tatami, and similar soft targets. The thin, wide blade with a double edge is hand-forged from 1050 carbon steel and comes fully sharpened and polished. For maximum control and leverage when attempting large cutting performances, the Competition Cutting Sword is equipped with a massive leather-wrapped wooden handle for one or both hands. For the protection of your fingers and catching the opponent's blade, a simple but effective steel guard is available. To balance the wide blade correctly, the sword is equipped with an attractive steel pommel in the shape of a rectangle. The sword comes with a scabbard made of sturdy black leather with steel fittings.
